Brookline '99 - The Official Story of the Ryder Cu

The 1999 Ryder Cup matches at The Country Club, Brookline, Massachussets were the most explosive and memorable for many years.

The Europeans took the lead in the early stages with a thrilling display of skill and accuracy, taking control of the foursomes. Darren Clarke and Lee Westwood recorded a notable win over the world's no.1 and 2, Tiger Woods and David Duvall.

Saturday saw the flow of incredible golf continue as the Americans were determined to grind out results, but the day ended with the Europeans still leading the tournament.

Despite a 10-6 deficit going into the final round and the fact that no team has ever come back from more than two points behind on the last day, Ben Crenshaw's team refused to give in.

People scoffed at the U.S. captain when he said he believed in fate on Saturday night, yet less than 24 hours later the Americans had pulled off the greatest comeback in Ryder Cup history, winning by a solitary point.
